Not surprisingly, the tickets in most demand are for the opening and closing ceremonies. The sale of these tickets, say OC officials, have contributed to 25 per cent of the total sales so far. Among the sporting events, hockey is the front-runner, accounting for 14% of the tickets sold till date, followed by athletics at 11% and gymnastics at 10%. Swimming is at the fourth spot with 8% share of the sales, said OC officials.
There will be around 17 lakh tickets available for sale. The ticket sales will be done in three phases. During phase-I (June 1 to July 31), spectators buying the tickets will be provided with a confirmation voucher which will be exchanged for actual tickets beginning August 1, also marking the start of phase-II.Direct purchases can be made at the retail outlets and those holding vouchers can also procure actual tickets there. Ticket holders will also be able to enjoy a free Metro and Delhi Transport Corporation ( DTC) bus ride on the day of the event, including for the opening and closing ceremonies.
"Spectator services staff will provide guidance and assistance. Various facilities like information booths, stroller storage booth, lost and found booth, toilets and medical room would be available for the spectators. They can also purchase food, water and merchandise from the various stalls which would be located inside the plaza, As part of the security measures, a list of prohibited items has been prepared and these too will be indicated behind the ticket as well as the spectator guide.
