ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Saudi Minister for Haj Fawad Abdu Salam Al-Farsi presented SR 6.665 million (S$2.32 million) cheque to Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi in Jeddah Wednesday.

Spokesman of Pakistan's Haj Mission Makkah said the amount will be distributed among 26,660 pilgrims who could not get accommodation at Mina on 8th Zulhaj during Haj rituals this year. The affected pilgrims will get SR 250 each out of this amount.

A special ceremony was held for this purpose which was attended besides others by Vice Chairman of Establishment of Guides for South Asian Pilgrims Dr Irshad, Pakistan's Consul General in Jeddah Salik Khan, DG Haj Sultan Shah and Director Haj (Welfare) Syed Farogh Aftab Zaidi.

Meanwhile, Hamid Saeed Kazmi thanked the Saudi government and invited the Saudi Haj Minister to visit Pakistan. He said the money given by Saudi Arabia to Pakistani pilgrims would improve the ties between the two countries.

The minister will be returning to the country today (Thursday) after which he would present Haj corruption report to the President and the Prime Minister.
